SelarasSpatial Philosophy & Context

An editorial, high-performance web experience developed for Selaras, a premium architectural design studio on the Malabar Coast of Kannur, Kerala.

Traditional static design portfolios failed to convey the tactile warmth and contextual richness of Selaras' premium architectural works, such as Seraya Villa and Harmony House. They needed a high-end digital presence inspired by premium modern print magazines (like Architectural Digest and Detail) that integrates local cultural building blocks, while retaining peak performance and search optimization.

We engineered a dark minimalist editorial space utilizing large asymmetrical layouts, custom scroll-linked interactive word reveals, and inline image capsule accents. We localized all branding elements to celebrate Kerala Laterite stone walls, Arabian Sea coastline coordinates, local address positioning near Payyambalam Beach Road, and credits to local partners like the Kerala Flora Studio.

We focused on creating site-wide inertia scrolling with Lenis Scroll, binding a resilient ResizeObserver directly to the document.body to prevent layout shifts. We also structured advanced on-page SEO targeting Kannur/Kerala luxury architecture, achieving a 100% static pre-rendered (SSG) deployment.

Built on Next.js 16 and React 19, the interface utilizes Framer Motion for scroll-driven word-by-word reveal boundaries. The Works grid features cropped aspect-[4/3] layouts with vertical translation offsets, scale-on-hover micro-animations, and floating action indicators. A standalone interactive contact route (/contact) was also engineered with granular project category selection chips.
